Trying to make space for an empowering hospitality necessitated withholding our schemes and workshop plans so to facilitate grassroots endeavors on the side of the people dropping in and staying around though they might follow unexpected paths. This follows no blueprint but requires researchers and science communicators to be open to surprises, to be patient and persistent, and to be willing to swap positions and be the learners, not the instructors. While the physical and technical infrastructures were at one point installed, keeping the social infrastructuring of continuous presence running remains an open issue that requires us to rethink how to fund and support living labs and their mission in the long run.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.22323\/2.22030802","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2023,6,20]],"date-time":"2023-06-20T12:23:27Z","timestamp":1687263807000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Living labs as third places: low-threshold participation, empowering hospitality, and the social infrastructuring of continuous presence"],"prefix":"10.22323","volume":"22","author":[{"given":"Christian","family":"Pentzold","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Ingmar","family":"Rothe","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Andreas","family":"Bischof","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"9588","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2023,6,20]]},"container-title":["Special Issue: Living labs under construction: paradigms, practices, and perspectives of public science communication and participatory science","Journal of Science Communication"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/jcom.sissa.it\/article\/1255\/galley\/2632\/download\/","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2023,7,20]],"date-time":"2023-07-20T07:07:43Z","timestamp":1689836863000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/jcom.sissa.it\/article\/pubid\/JCOM_2203_2023_N02\/"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2023,6,20]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"03","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2023,6,19]]}},"URL":"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.22323\/2.22030802","relation":{},"ISSN":["1824-2049"],"issn-type":[{"value":"1824-2049","type":"electronic"}],"subject":["Communication"],"published":{"date-parts":[[2023,6,20]]}}}
